Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Jul 01, 2014 11:28 am When we recently built our house, we had the builder put in a double door frame for our theatre room so we could add doors later down the track. We are now at the point of looking for doors. The frame is the size of 2 x 720mm wide doors. My DH has said he wants 10 light doors. mostly because he likes the look but I don't know how much he has thought into it. I am not sure what would be best, the doors lead out to a hallway and activity room in the middle of the house. The problem I have is the activity room has a sun light so during the day light will always come through from the activity room. Is this a big deal? The room is mostly used at night time since we both work full time. What type of doors do you all have for you theatre rooms? Anyone able to share photos of what they have? Or even any recommendations for types of doors or places they bought the doors from as I am having trouble finding doors. Re: Theatre Room Doors 2Jul 01, 2014 4:44 pm Ummm... solid core doors might be a good start. The solid core doors will help keep the sound in the room, but you might not care for that, so honeycomb standard doors might be sufficient. I haven't heard of "10 light doors" before. Re: Theatre Room Doors 3Jul 03, 2014 11:26 am Hi felicity The best thing to do is put in solid core doors that match the rest of the doors in the house. If you just have standard flush panel doors (standard flat door) and you want something a bit smarter then you could go with one of the routed doors. They are just flat doors with some grooves routed in them either vertical or horizontal. It depends how serious you are about the theater room. If you are going to be running a projector and subwoofer then being able to isolate the room is more important and I'd definitely recommend solid doors for noise and light control. However if you are just running a flat panel tv and it is more a multi purpose room then your French style doors will look quite nice. And afford you some noise control. I'm a carpenter and buy all my doors from a specialist door shop. If you look at the Hume and Corithian websites you can look at the doors used in about 95% of homes. You can order them from bunnings special order if you have to. If you need any help let me know.
