I've seen french doors down to 620mm wide both internal and external but bear in mind when you want to walk though a narrow set of french doors you will have to open them both to do so ( unless you want to squeeze through just one ). For this reason alone I personally wouldn't want each door to be smaller than 720mm wide. But I don't like wider than 820mm double doors either unless you raise their height to say 2250mm to make them visually balanced. It will also depend on whether you can open them both back onto a wall without impeding something else on those walls or whether you don't mind them opening out to just 90º.
