Is there any point upgrading the sliding door to double glazed for insulation purposes or are any gains going to be lost due to no insulation in the walls or ceiling? I think 70% of your problem is your door. Double glazing is great at keeping heat IN but not so good on its own at keeping heat OUT. You need to have low-E glass, preferable in a double glazed unit. Best of all can you shade the door? Ed "ECOECO" At 'EcoEco', we design windows, we design the best windows, we do it for you, so that when you’re happy we are happy. We have only recently moved into this house and the heat upstairs has been incredible over summer - I have installed split systems in all the rooms upstairs to combat the heat. The void is particularly easy for a louvre installation. I think it would look good too...
