Browse Forums Windows & Doors Re: aluminium french doors 2Oct 02, 2006 12:55 pm Budwah we are tossing up between a large sliding door or the french doors that lead from our meals/family area to outside. Does anyone know the cost for the french doors? It depends on the size really. But your French doors will be more expensive in general. If you can give me a rough size, I can give you a rough estimate. Re: aluminium french doors 4Dec 26, 2006 7:19 pm Budwah the space is around 3 metres wide Based on the size that your looking @ ... you could go 2 leafs @ 900 wide and couple that to 2 x 600 wide fixed lites on either side... which is expenseive... plus you need to see if the french doors have a mitre joint or a straight cut... usually with the mitred doors, there is a tendence for the mitres to open up andalso the hinges dropping based on the usage... if you went a stacker door... you then could screen the doors.. not as expensive... but is also dependent on the look that you are trying to achieve Re: aluminium french doors 5Dec 27, 2006 7:06 am Is the 3 metre space already there i.e. supported above by a lintel? Re: aluminium french doors 6Dec 27, 2006 12:31 pm Thanks everyone. The space will be supported by a lintel- at the moment we have in the plan a double sliding door. I thought the french doors would look better but if its going to be expensive then we might leave it at that. Thank you everyone for your help. I don't know them all, the first 2 top of your list are best known. Rylock is a good company, Stegbar is for sale. 4 16233 4 14293 |
