Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Jan 28, 2014 8:29 am I am currently having all my windows replaced with new aluminium framed windows in a brick veneer house. The company who is supplying/installing the windows is using Sika Acrylic sealant to fill the gaps (of up to 10mm) between the windows and the brickwork on the outside of the house. This is a water-based acrylic sealant designed for indoor use, see: http://aus.sika.com/en/solutions_produc ... 08108.html When I noticed I asked them to stop for the time being, but I'm basically 100% sure this is not appropriate and won't last the test of time. Any comments? Is the acrylic sealant ok and if not, what type of sealant should be used? Important to both keep water out and provide a neat looking seal. Re: Caulking around windows - what type of product to use? 3Jan 28, 2014 12:29 pm It is not our standard but it is a standard that the subcontractor has used previously. We will make sure that he complies with our standard and ensure it meets your requirements. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
