Pretty good price . The only thing is you have to install yourself. Install wasnt hard and well worth the savings. You can enter dimensions on the website choose colour and material and get an instant quote. I was a bit worried that the quality wouldnt be there, but it has been excellent. You can also order colour samples at around $2 each.
The blinds are made to measure and ours took around 3-4 weeks to arrive after I paid on the website. Will definately be using them again when we finish building new house next year. Re: Off the shelf blinds 5May 18, 2008 8:35 pm Hey Toon, check out this link to a place we might be using, it showa you how to measure your window:
http://homeoutlet.com.au/portal/support/how-to-measure.html (Oh and the allowance they deduct is 5mm from each end, but we requested 3mm as we wanted a snugger fit. Ours will be semi-recessed) Also check what the pelmets are like before you buy the blinds, if they have the side returns then they can go outside the window or if they don't then they are usually meant to be recessed inside the window. Saying that though, in our last house, we bought the timber blinds from Lincraft they did not have returns on the pelmets and we put them up on the outside of the window. They looked fine. At the end of the day it depends on the look you are after i suppose. PS. Try not to buy off the floor plan unless you are willing to do any width adjustments yourself... Measure the actual windows when they have been installed and architraves put on. Only then will you get a true indication of the dimensions. Re: Off the shelf blinds 6May 22, 2008 8:40 pm Sorry, this post won't be at all helpful to this thread, but I had a question with having to fit blinds/shutters to individual windows...
I am wanting to get plantation shutters put on the windows/doors of my new apartment when we move in, and when we move out of that place and into another place at some point down the track, we'd be wanting to take our (expensive and lovely) shutters with us...but what if they don't fit in the new place!? How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! That’s always the problem with wanting to take what you have with you! It’s very likely they WON’T fit your next place. Best you throw on a few extra dollars on the sale of your unit, and look at them as a good sell point for the place! Taking them could be a big mistake, 1) In selling the unite 2) Not being able to use them again, thus being a waist of effort. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Off the shelf blinds 8Sep 21, 2008 11:24 pm We bought wood blinds from Spotlight for our current place and they were fine. They needed about 1cm cut off each end from the metal bar at the top but that was very easy with a hacksaw. Fitted them with masonry plugs and they have been no problem at all. You get them in standard drop lengths and just remove the slats you don't need. We bought one and fitted it as a test. So impressed we did all the other windows!
Spotlight also offer a trimming service where they will cut the entire stack of slats down to your windows size. We are planning on doing the same thing for our new place. regards sean Re: Off the shelf blinds 9Oct 09, 2008 9:56 pm Mel&Em Hi Try looking at iseekblinds.com.au I buoght some romans for our existing house last year and they have been fantastic. Hi, just saw your post and wanted to tell you that we got quotes from iseekblinds and also from a company called sanctuary blinds and they were cheaper and better quality than iseekblinds and the guy came around, measured everything up, showed us all the samples incl. chains, bottom rails etc and then gave us a quote and the blinds were delivered and installed within 2 weeks. All at a better price than iseekblinds, spotlight or any of the others! They were really nice and helpful too! I think their website is www.sanctuaryblinds.com Re: Off the shelf blinds 10Oct 10, 2008 11:39 am Dammit! If only they were in QLD! How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing!
