Hi
I need some expert advice.
I have a large upper storey bedroom window that overlooks my neighbours backyard and straight into their dining area. Although they signed this off at DA, every time we get close to the window we feel like we are intruding. We would like to add privacy film to inside face of the bottom panes but I am unsure if there will be greater chance of thermal stress and fracture of the glass? The film company have said there is no thermal loading with their product.
It is NW facing (Perth), currently glazed with smartglass 6m SP50 grey. It is not toughened. The sill is at approx 650AFL and the window is 1940w X 1890h. Divided into 4 panes. Two highlight opening awnings.
We also feel that the film will give a bit more piece of mind in terms of safety as this room will be my toddlers room and the bed may go underneath the window.
Are we safe to install?
Our back up plan is to install a top down bottom up translucent duet blind.
Cheers
