Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Oct 30, 2013 3:36 pm Hi Team, I'm constructing a rear entrance to a property which is essential a 300mm double brick wall. The opening is 2770mm wide. I need advice on what type of construction / lintel to use. As it is wide and is carrying a reasonable load and also there is a brick on edge soldier course planned across the head on each side. I am feeling that it will have to be a double sided steel right angled one of some sort. Do lintels like this come as standard or would it have to be custom made? Any good dealers or manufacturers you could recommend? I have attached a drawing of what I am trying to do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. I think more bricks are better than less above the lintel as the weight of it will help stabilise it. Double brick walls are 230mm wide and the lintel is 200mm wide.
