Hi
I recently installed a new window (timber) in our bedroom with 8.5mm hush glass with the hope of reducing the noise (mainly voice) coming from an office across the road. The effect has not been impressive and while I definately notice that the room is more 'hushed', we are still well aware of the noise.
So I guess we have two options.
1. Install secondary double glazing to the window unit - will it make much difference?
2. Replace the window with a proper double glazed unit with - maybe with the glass being 6 and 8mm with a 12mm gap. Roughly what kind of cost would this be. The window frame is 1.63m(w) x 1.875m (h). If I don't use timber, what is the best alternative?
Can someone please advise me on the best route to go. Not so concerned about thermal properties, although we do live in Brisbane, so gets pretty hot in summer
