Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Sep 04, 2013 5:19 pm Hi guys, I am building double storey house. my ceiling height is 2700 for both floors my front entrance door and front garage door is 2400 in height, also my bi-folding door and staker in living room is 2400 in height. i have a mixture of 1800 and 2100 high windows on ground floor, and mixture of 1200, 1500 and 1800 upstairs. i have read many threads here, because I have a high ceiling 2700, i will make all my internal doors 2340 to make the house look bigger and classy. my question is, 1. how high should i set my windows should I set it as 2400 from floor level so that all my windows are align with my entrance door, bi-fold, staker etc.. i think the benefit of that is when brick layer is laying brick wall, there will be no gap between the lintel and the window because they are all the same height. 2. what about upstairs? given that there is no entrance/bi-fold/staker upstairs, should i also make it 2400 high, to be consistent. 3. also i have read here that people are suggesting to have the height of window the same height as internal doors. in this case if my internal door is 2340, is it advisable to set my windows 2340 high as well? but then, for ground floor, given that my entrance door/bi-fold/stakers are 2400 high set from the slab level, there will be approx 60mm gap between the lintel and the window... any suggestion is appreciated Re: how high to set windows/doors 2Sep 05, 2013 11:05 am melbbuild Hi guys, I am building double storey house. my ceiling height is 2700 for both floors my front entrance door and front garage door is 2400 in height, also my bi-folding door and staker in living room is 2400 in height. i have a mixture of 1800 and 2100 high windows on ground floor, and mixture of 1200, 1500 and 1800 upstairs. i have read many threads here, because I have a high ceiling 2700, i will make all my internal doors 2340 to make the house look bigger and classy. my question is, 1. how high should i set my windows should I set it as 2400 from floor level so that all my windows are align with my entrance door, bi-fold, staker etc.. i think the benefit of that is when brick layer is laying brick wall, there will be no gap between the lintel and the window because they are all the same height. 2. what about upstairs? given that there is no entrance/bi-fold/staker upstairs, should i also make it 2400 high, to be consistent. 3. also i have read here that people are suggesting to have the height of window the same height as internal doors. in this case if my internal door is 2340, is it advisable to set my windows 2340 high as well? but then, for ground floor, given that my entrance door/bi-fold/stakers are 2400 high set from the slab level, there will be approx 60mm gap between the lintel and the window... any suggestion is appreciated In general terms, all your windows and doors should align at the head. Ed Hi Ed, when you say windows and doors should align at the head, this would therefore mean that it wouldn't matter the size of the window chosen, because the starting point would all be the same, so different rooms can have different sized windows depending on the look to go for? --- Thank you so much.
