Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Aug 23, 2013 11:30 am We're going to have the pool up against the side of the house. Our main, large, living room window will look directly on to the pool. I can't find a simple guideline to what this window should be like to adhere to safety laws etc. We asked the builder and they didn't really seem to know but are going to charge $300odd dollars to make it "hardened" glass and limit the opening to only 10cm but that horrifies me. It's our main window to the living area, we want it to be able to open more than that!! Some places it says that it just needs a fixed security screen over the openable part - so if we just have a normal window but then do a fixed panel of crimsafe will that be enough?! Is the "hardened" glass thing mandatory? It's probably a very good idea considering it's only 1.2 m from the pool but I'm just wondering what the actual laws are. We're in QLD. We are in WA and had windows overlooking the pool area, our opening had to be limited to 10cm. If I was you I would ring the local council and find out what the requirements are. Good Luck Cheers AKB <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=62083">viewtopic.php?t=62083</a><!-- l --> Re: Window to pool requirements. 4Aug 26, 2013 11:00 am Thanks AKB. I ended up calling the QLD government pool safety council (very official sounding!) and they told me it CAN open wider, it just needs a fixed security screen over it. Can be diamond grill or crimsafe etc. Phew, I'm relieved we'll be able to open that window more! Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65085 This was on google.
