Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Aug 22, 2013 4:08 pm Hi guys, I was wondering if someone could please help me I am currently having words with my builder in relation to double rebated door frames. I want to fit security doors to the front and back door after handover and as I understand it, you need double rebated door frames to do this. I have been told by the builder that you don't need double rebated door frames and you can just put the security door on the standard frame. If it is a single rebated door frame, surely this is not possible and you wouldn't be able to close the security door and the main door at the same time? They're saying they have never done double rebated door frames!!! Am I missing something?! Re: Door frames for security doors 2Aug 22, 2013 7:00 pm Depends on what you're looking to buy. When the guy came out to do the quote for the security doors he said that it wasn't a problem as they would install a separate metal frame for the security doors. He said that it would be stronger and more secure than fitting into a wooden door frame. There was a bit extra cost for the frame but we were very happy with the results. If this is a custom build then I would expect the builder to set out the door frame closer to the wall to avoid the gap between architrave and the wall and or specify… 9 8289 For your reference Performance Labels: Window assemblies in housing, except timber windows, must be labelled so the label can be seen when it is in situ.
