Hi newstart2day, It depends what you are trying to achieve - and what the cavity is filled with(air, argon etc.) - but typically around 12-14mm is the optimum for thermal performance. Don't forget you really need to compare entire window systems, and the glass is only one particular aspect. Just because one system has a thicker glazing cavity does not necessarily mean it is more efficient system overall. There is no real Australian standard to the cavity size as this varies between systems and what thickness they have been designed to accommodate.
