Browse Forums Windows & Doors Re: Laundry and Garage back door, timber frame or aluminium? 3Aug 14, 2013 7:47 am melbbuild Hi guys, just wanted to get some ideas, should I put the standard timber door frame for laundry and garage back door? or should I put aluminum door frames? is there any advantage of getting aluminum? eg. laundry might be high in moisture and could damage timber frame? is that possible? which one is more expensive? I am going for timber frame for main entrance by the way because I am getting timber entrance door so it matches. just not sure about laundry and garage... Aluminium will be more expensive for a simple door frame. It's quite common to use a 1450 wide aluminium sliding door in the laundry these days. If the timber is well maintained you should not have a problem. An aluminium door can be used in the garage if the wall is brick veneer, but it is unsuitable for a single skin brick.
