We're very conscious about energy efficiency but unsure of what window sizes should be for rooms situated on the western elevation. Given that we must have windows on inhabited areas but not sure how small it is to maximize energy efficiency? Could anyone please shed some lights? Minimal windows is the best for energy efficiency, however the building code calls for 10% of floor area be the window area (natural light), and half of that (5%) needs to be openable for ventilation. This room and the adjacent room would need enough light and ventilation for both rooms.
