Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Jul 01, 2013 10:00 pm I am hoping I am not asking some silly questions here but here goes..... I have been searching the internet trying to find out some information without any luck so I am hoping someone can help me. We recently finished building our house (owner built) and almost every window has a section where there is a 1-2mm gap between the window and the timber reveal. Is this normal? My husband showed the carpenter one of the windows and he said just seal it. One person I spoke to said that painters usually seal around windows when they are prepping. My biggest concern is in our main bedroom we have 3 windows and all 3 windows on one side have a gap about 3-4mm. Can someone please help me and let me know 1. is this normal? 2. if it is normal, do we just seal it? 3. has the carpenter done something wrong? 4. could it be an issue with the aluminium windows? I appreciate any help or suggestions. Thanks Re: Gaps between window and timber reveal 3Jul 01, 2013 10:29 pm Ed, Will send an image when I find out how to do it. Sorry I missed this, simply put this is a pathetic job, and as it stands it is non-compliant... I think the worst part is not in the quality of the workmanship so much… 5 7041 Building Standards; Getting It Right! Is this acceptable in a new house build. Floors where installed by builder.
