Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Jun 24, 2013 3:27 pm Hey All, I'm about to kick off a renovation which includes adding some bi-fold or stacking doors to the rear living area. One key factor is having a good flyscreen. I notice there are a lot of retractable screens on the market, but not sure how practical they are. The builder's opinion of them is not high, especially with bi-folds. Is it possible to have stacking flyscreen panels alongside your stacking doors? Thanks, Mud Re: Stackers, bi-folds and flyscreens 2Jun 24, 2013 3:29 pm Oh, while I'm at it, any views on PVC? I'm quite keen on low maintenance and saw some amazingly realistic wood-like PVC doors at the last home show from a company called EuroTech Windows. These windows will be facing west and will cop a lot of sun. Is PVC up to the job ie. won't warp, fade etc? With stackers, yes, that's how we do it. Some need an adaptor, check your supplier. IMO, having previously supplied PVC for a while, I can say that it does not suit large openings, especially in dark colours. We supply the same timber finish in aluminium. Dark colours exacerbate the problem, as surface temperatures can easily exceed 100 degrees, softening the PVC and expanding even more than 6mm. Then there are bushfires... Not so important in sliding windows and doors, as they have such wide tolerances. Critical in awning and casement windows, and hinged doors.
