Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Jun 16, 2013 12:02 am Hi, My new house is currently having the internal bricks completed and on a visit I noticed that the two windows in my kitchen start at different heights. One is behind the cooktop at bench height and the other starts above the bench. I think this looks quiet strange and would like opinions, I'm not sure if its strange as there is only bricks at this point and once complete it will look ok. Does anyone else have a similar layout, if so I would love a pic. This was going to be my favourite area and now I'm worried I will hate it. Not sure if I can use longer curtains to touch the bench so it's not as noticeable?? Any ideas is appreciated The plan does show this, I just didn't pick up on it as the original plan with the builder used a bifold window at bench height, as I'm getting a normal window I didn't realise it would change the height http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a91/bl ... mage-3.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a91/bl ... mage-2.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a91/bl ... mage-1.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a91/bl ... /image.jpg Thank you Re: Help about windows in my kitchen please 2Jun 16, 2013 12:05 am I think it looks okay that way, especially as the tap is there so it gives it a little splash back. They are different windows so it doesn't look odd. In my place I have a small window that is up higher than where the sliding door reaches next to it but as they are different size windows I think it looks okay. If it were the same size then it may look a little odd. Do you have the photos from your house? Re: Help about windows in my kitchen please 3Jun 16, 2013 12:12 am Thank you for the quick response Amancharmar, I don't have a pic from my house yet but will take one tomorrow or Monday. Glad you don't think it will look odd Re: Help about windows in my kitchen please 4Jun 16, 2013 1:29 am Don't be worried!! They are on different walls and both suit the area they are in The little shelf where the sink is will come in handy and I agree that seeing as the sink window is much larger it really won't be an issue once its all finished great kitchen design btw! Re: Help about windows in my kitchen please 5Jun 16, 2013 11:42 am Thank you xxkatxx, makes me feel better I was being kind to the builder. With the amount charged for the upgrade the builder is probably charging closer to 100% margin. There are a few variables as I… 5 14333 You never have a fridge against wall as you’ve drawn. The doors can’t open past 90 degrees and it’s difficult and maybe impossible to remove drawers 2 15610 |
