Hey.
Building a house and just noticed something today.
With all the windows in the house, the window itself is surrounded by a wooden frame if you know what I mean. However, between this window frame and the actual house frame that the window sits in, there is a gap. I'd say around 1cm in most places, although it varies. In other words, I can see outside of the house through this gap as we have no bricks yet.
We assumed that this would get sealed or something later on, but today they started putting up the wall sheeting or whatever it is called (the internal walls), and it has not been fixed. They have simply put the sheeting close to the window so that it sits on top of this gap. So once the house is done, we will have a gap around all the windows in the house from the sheeting to the brick (or weatherboard). I should also clarify that we are building on a narrow lot with a train relatively close by, so we are a little bit worried about noise, and made sure to get insulation to all walls to stop some of the noise.
Is this normal practice and I'm just being overly pedantic? Should I mention it to builder before the rest of the sheets come up?
