Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Jan 09, 2013 6:57 pm Hi all, Can anyone tell me what difference there would be between a top 3rd opening awning window to a bottom 3rd opening awning window. If it is in the lounge room, would I feel the same draft effect from both? or would I not feel much draft from the top open one? Thanks Andrew Re: Awning Windows 2Jan 09, 2013 11:30 pm I guess open at the top would bring cool breeze in which then falls to the floor and hot air would rise and go out the top. If the opening is on the bottom the hot air might not escape and just remain trapped. Hot air rises, cool air falls so I would think top opening is much better than bottom opening. It is more common in standard houses. Also I may be biased as I have back problems but reaching up to open the window and turn the chainwinder is better than kneeling on the ground to do the one on the ground as it will be fitted right at the bottom of the window.
