Double cavity sliders

Hi

We are building a new house and are going to put double sliding doors into the rumpus/games room.

Do we need to buy a double cavity slider unit or can we use 2 singles?

Which ever way you want to go.

As they will be pulled to the sides away from each other, it doesn’t really matter.
Whatever works best for you cost wise. Your builder can do both.

We put two singles up in our home that we are currently living in (was our rental and will be again once our new home is ready) as it was cheaper at the time. However - having two tracks you have to ensure that they meet exactly otherwise they look really dicky!!

In our new home we are getting a proper double cavity slider - doing it properly after stuffing up the first time. :oops:

What do you mean by "double cavity slider"?

Is this two stacker doors in a double cavity? Or two seperate doors coming together from each side?

You can get standard cavity sliders from 620 to 870 wide, meaning two can give you up to 1640 coverage.

Two singles work much better, that way you can open just one to leave the room. The problem with the "join" is merely alignment, and being a new home it shouldn't be an issue. If the builder doesn't get it right, its easy enough for yourself to adjust the tracks to make the correction

We're getting a double one, I would worry that that single ones would be out of alignment. The cost difference can't be that much?

I still don't understand what you mean by double cavity? Is the cavity, and hence wall double width (140mm)?
