Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Aug 27, 2012 5:50 pm Wondering if one can put security screens on stacker doors? Would appreciate any links or prices - the one's were considering are (x2) 3110mm wide at 25c. Would hate to interfere with view so as invisible as possible would be good. Also wondering if they are able to stack to the static glass pane while the other panels are non-exposed if you wanted to and then just stack them back in front when locking up. Re: Can you put security screens on stacker doors? 2Aug 27, 2012 9:47 pm Absolutely, we have a 2 stacker & 1 fixed glass (3 panels total) with two stacked security screens on the outside. The two security panels can stack behind the fixed panel. We have the old fashioned diamond mesh security mesh (as it’s an investment property) but we could have just as easily had crimsafe/prowlerproof or some other ‘see-through’ mesh. Marlin Security here in Brisbane did ours and good job. ----------------------------------------------- http://pab34newdigs.blogspot.com.au/ ----------------------------------------------- Re: Can you put security screens on stacker doors? 3Aug 27, 2012 9:57 pm We have a security screen on our stacker door as well & also have 3 panels with one fixed. Our security screen is "Invisigaurd" which is like Crimsafe. In this pic the screens are shut http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/ff440/BroomJ/012.jpg Building our custom design "Dream Home" Follow my Build - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=46820 Contract Signed - 28/04/11 Siteworks Commenced - 20/06/11 Re: Can you put security screens on stacker doors? 4Aug 28, 2012 4:10 pm Awesome, exactly what I was hoping to hear. Do you guys have any indication on price ie are they more expensive than ordinary security screens for sliding doors? Prefer the "see through" stuff. Re: Can you put security screens on stacker doors? 5Aug 28, 2012 5:08 pm "see through" stuff is more expensive. It cost around $1000 for 2 stackers with diamond mesh. ----------------------------------------------- http://pab34newdigs.blogspot.com.au/ ----------------------------------------------- Re: Can you put security screens on stacker doors? 6Aug 28, 2012 5:34 pm The info is correct, but it depends on your stacker door whether it can take a security door easily. Check if there is a track in front of the door. Ours does, and one or two others do... but not all. If it doesn't then you may be up for a fair cost in fitting tracks and the security doors may not be so secure. Not cheap- may cost as much as the original doors! But they are mesh Marine Grade Stainless Steel and see through. Great for view and ventialtion while maintaining security. I think Crimsafe may have one and apparently seeing past entries maybe Invisigard and others do too. Just make sure they comply with relevant standards and can be classified as security rather than just a barrier door. Re: Can you put security screens on stacker doors? 8Aug 30, 2012 4:58 pm rrickall If by Stacker you mean Folding doors... Stacker doors are sliding doors with more than one active panel which slide over each other to overlap. The folding doors are bifold doors. The screens you mention are available for stacker doors. While we havent installed yet, we will be going with either of the first two. From my experience I would everyone give Alcom a big miss. There starting price was $34k, they gave us there home show discount as we saw them there which came down to $28k. I told them they were way off and if they wanted a chance then put in there best price otherwise thanks for there time. they came down to $15k. The other two submitted 1 quote each and were both about $12k. Marlin isnt crimsafe but he said he could do crimsafe for same price if thats what i wanted. Davcon was crimsafe My Knock down and Rebuild thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=54685 Our Building Blog http://ourknockdownrebuild.blogspot.com.au/ Hi Stuey, think you’ve got a couple of options here you’d just need to decide your preference/which options suits best.
