Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Aug 17, 2012 11:03 am We are planning to soon replace the glass on our current window panes (around 10 very large windows) to double glazed. At the moment one of the windows (with lovely views) has a fixed centre pane and a sash on either side. I'd like to replace it with just one fixed glass pane (low u and double glazed). Size is around 2600x1340. Is it possible to fit the glass pane on the existing window frame? Can you give me an idea of the cost? Here is a picture to give you an idea: http://i1155.photobucket.com/albums/p549/VintageOak/window.jpg close up: http://i1155.photobucket.com/albums/p549/VintageOak/1.jpg Thanks Re: Double Glazing and picture windows - possible? 2Aug 17, 2012 3:44 pm Camber We are planning to soon replace the glass on our current window panes (around 10 very large windows) to double glazed. You also need to maintain ventilation at 5% of floor area in each room or close by. Our price for a 2600 x 1200 open window above a fixed window say 900 wide - all double glazed, fully installed is under $2000. Depending on location and access. But wanted this particular one fixed, picture type. Would I have to remove the frame we've just finished painting the room and was hoping to simply have the glass custom made to fit the frame (frame is around 120mm wide). Otherwise, we might have to postpone this project for a very long time! Re: Double Glazing and picture windows - possible? 4Aug 17, 2012 6:57 pm Camber Thanks for your response.
