Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Aug 16, 2012 12:20 pm Hopefully someone can help. My kitchen is 5.3m long and my underbench oven and stovetop will be 900mm. I want my stovetop in the middle of the bench which leaves 2.2 either side of it. I want the long narrow windows that go between the benchtop and the overhead cupboards. So I will need 2 windows about 2200w x 650high each. My builder is telling me these windows are too long for ordinary glass and i will need extra strength windows that might cost me $5000 each!! Does anyone know how big your windows can be before you have to go into fort knox to pay for them? thank you. Re: window sizes and strengths? 2Aug 16, 2012 11:17 pm auds Hopefully someone can help. The windows are too wide for ordinary frames... we make them up to 2650 wide as opening windows and 3000 wide as fixed windows. I don't have the price with me, but would be maybe $1000 each - and that would be double glazed. But you are a long way from Melbourne, and you are probably in double brick which means our revealed windows may be a big compromise. I just want 2 long windows in one single pane of glass. Re: window sizes and strengths? 4Aug 17, 2012 1:42 pm We wanted some oversize stuff, which meant we had to go commercial instead of residential and toughened glass. However, the price wasn't that scary.
