Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Mar 25, 2008 8:50 am Did anyone get hit by that really heavy rain last night? In Melbourne, I mean.
Anyway, i'm just wondering if someone could tell me wether I should freak out or not... We have two windows in the back end of the house that seemed to have let the rain in. It kind of pooled up in the tracks of the windows and then overflowed to the window ledge. I managed to catch it before it dripped to the floor. My question is - is there something wrong with my windows? Are the frames supposed to naturally get a bit of water in them and then drained somehow? None of the other windows overflowed but they did get a small pool of water in the tracks. I hope this post makes sense. I'm still half asleep from the long weekend... This is not OK and the most likely cause is the weepholes on the outside of the window are blocked up. I am assuming they are aluminium windows and at each end there should be little oblong shaped holes to allow the water to run out. Make sure these are clear and if they are then ring your builder as there is more likely a bigger issue. Or should I be worried if they are clear? [sneakersss] Re: Windows and Rain 6Mar 25, 2008 9:06 pm Clear as in - allow water flow out.
Get a bucket - pour water on the window and see what happens. It should run out the hole and away from the window. If it comes inside - well it's not installed as it should be.
