Hi all,
Can anyone please help me with the following questions regarding creating a bigger window in a 1940's fibro house? The room is used as a study and only has one of those high narrow windows across the top third of the wall. It currently opens but is under the carport and does not let enough light in except for between 3 and 4pm! There are also french doors that open onto the front porch. There is no cladding on the exterior wall, just regular fibro panelling (not asbestos - that has been removed and replaced in the 90s).
1. Do we need DA approval to do so or can it just be done?
2. Is the window required to be one that opens? (we have a beautiful old window I would like to use but it does not open)
3. Will we have to have loads of wall ripped out, or only the area around the window space we want? Is it a massive job?
4. What kind of tradesman is the best person to help us with this - builder, carpenter etc?
Thanks very much
