Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Mar 24, 2008 4:22 pm Hi all
as mentioned in an earlier thread, we will be building an Edenbrae home. Currently we are renting a Clarendon home. One of many things which has been badly done in this house is the hanging of the internal doors. EVERY SINGLE door either swings open or swings closed. NOT ONE door stays as you leave it. I've lost count of the times I have opened a door, turned around to do something & when I've turned back, have walked into the !@#$% thing I've been told that this is because the doors/architraves are not level.....is this true MY QUESTION : how do we prevent this from happening in our new house? Am I being totally anal about this ? All suggestions welcome (except that I'm being anal of course) Re: Badly hung doors - how to avoid this 2Mar 24, 2008 4:57 pm Hi, not anal at all - our current rental is the same it drives me crazy too Hope someone can help you (us)! Re: Badly hung doors - how to avoid this 5Mar 24, 2008 6:18 pm Buy a good spirit level and check them, if building new check the frames for plumb before they're sheeted - if not tell them to fix it Re: Badly hung doors - how to avoid this 6Mar 24, 2008 6:35 pm Will absolutely make sure we do this ! Such a logical suggestion ......... should have thought of this
I'm finding that the building game is not so easy for novices. There's a lot to consider & a lot that can be missed - and a lot that we WILL miss, I bet Thanks once again. Could be poor workmanship from the carpenter, however most cases that I have seen that cause this is the painter.
Carpenter hangs them in the fix, painter removes them to be painted then slaps them back on. It annoys my partner to no end as it looks like he has done the bad job. Re: Badly hung doors - how to avoid this 9Mar 25, 2008 5:27 pm The majority of 'kit' home houses are done with 'pre-hung' door systems - there really isn't any way a door can be screwed on differently without making new holes. we have a standard size and often we have a lot of variety to choose 0 3575 We are looking for sliding doors which are 5 metres tall.
