Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Aug 06, 2012 6:15 pm We are about to take out an old sliding door and part of a wall to make way for a 2.8w door connecting the dining room to our outdoor area. The problem i'm having is finding the right door that offers that wide open space indoor/outdoor feel but also providing security. The security doors that are there are the moment are a crimsafe product that are locked overnight so we can keep the sliding doors open to allow the breeze to flow through on a hot summers night. Mozzie are an issue in summer as well. So do I go for the bi-fold timber door that looks great but offers no security/flyscreen or a stacker door? Help Re: Bi-fold vs stacker & security 2Aug 06, 2012 8:02 pm There is a screen for bifolds made by centor architectural, but be warned......its very expensive. We agonized over this one for ages and in the end laid our hard earned down for a screen that cost almost as much as the bloody door. That said, we love it, and it means the doors (seven panel) can be open in summer and we dont get eaten alive by mozzies. It isnt by any means a security door, and if you have a big dog, forget it. http://www.centor.com.au/screens/video-screen-folding Re: Bi-fold vs stacker & security 3Aug 06, 2012 11:16 pm If security is your priority, think how you will feel in 6 months without your Crimsafe door... If you don't need the ventilation, then our bifold door being silicone glazed and with optional laminated glass would suffice. It's a good looking product now i just hope it serves the purpose and wears well for the next few years with the timber bi-folds we have decided on. Going thru Duce doors on the Gold Coast so hope its a good choice Hi Stuey, think you’ve got a couple of options here you’d just need to decide your preference/which options suits best.
