Our sliding door in the laundry is obscure/glazed (not clear glass). I knew this when the sliding door frame was in. I have raised the issue to the builder, who said that the willbe follow up with the window/door supplier. It was not mentioned in the contract that the sliding laundry door should be obscure. And I assume it should be clear. The Council only specify glass in the ensuite and bath to be glazed/obscure. How difficult to change the obscure to clear glass sliding door in this stage? The glass frame was still nailed loosely to the wooden house frame. Thanks. oznow Re: How difficult to change the sliding door? 2Mar 22, 2008 11:48 am Have you considered that the obscure might be better than clear. It it a room that you look into from say your outdoor entertaining area?
If it is a matter of not needing obscure, then demand what it says in your contract. It shouldnt be hard to change - if it was broken by a cricket ball a glazier would be able to change it. I do know that when we renovated our windows in current 1950's built house we wanted obscure in the laundry and had to make a point of saying so or it would have been clear, I got the impression that clear was the norm for laundries. Anyway, what is the norm, or what other people would do, is not the point - at selections this sort of thing should be spelled out to you so you know what you will be getting and have a chance to alter it if desired. We were clearly told that ensuite, toilet and bathroom would have obscure windows and this is clearly shown in specifications. I agree, go back to your contract, they are obliged to do as it says, if in fact it does say obscure and you hadn't realised this, it should still be easy to change but they may charge you a fee to do so (what else is new?) I’m in a similar position except I’m after sliding 3 stacking doors. I am on a second-story apartment of which the balcony would not adequately fit any bi-fold or… 5 12176 DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair Thanks Chippy . Did also see a YouTube video before.
