Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Jul 13, 2012 8:13 am Hi guys,
Just wondering a rough cost of a sheet this size for the family room with either aluminium or timber frame. Would the price be any cheaper to get 2 smaller sheets (ie 2 x 2500mm H x 1250mm x 12mm) As it would have to be safety glass, I believe it can come in 2 flavours / varieties. Laminated (which one can cut to size ) or Toughened (which is heat treated and cannot be cut after after treated.) Advantages / disadvantages, would one be significantly cheaper to buy? Thanks Andrew Re: Cost of Large fixed pane of glass 2500mm x 2500mm x 12mm 2Jul 13, 2012 9:40 pm Sorry, but not trying to be be rude or silly, have you considered getting a no obligation price from your local nearest window manufacturer who can give you the options which you can then use a benchmark when checking other prices. I don't think there would be too many here that could give accurate pricing for your specific needs. Thanks Andrew I spent some time wondering why you need 12500 wide glass... I see your thread title is only 2500 wide... I don't have accurate info with me so it's a guess... 2500x2500x12 about $500 for the glass $300 for the frame and $500 to install glass on site. Glass weighs 200kgs, so maybe 6 people to lift. Toughened would be cheapest. Extra mullions would make glass slightly cheaper and install a lot cheaper. That is not a quote, just a conservative guide. Ed, Yes, a typo on my part thanks for picking it up, I have edited the original post. Thank you for your questamation. I will use it as a PC cost and add 10% for good measure. regards, Andrew Approvals are covered in the cost we are paying to the pool company.
