Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Mar 28, 2012 3:27 pm Hi all, I am planning to replace existing external timber door to front veranda with new sliding aluminium door for property within Warringah Council. The measurement of the new sliding door will be slightly different (there are small fixed windor on the either side of the exsiting door - Window-Door-Window). There will be no structural change/brick works for the new sliding door. The cost of new window is estimated to be $2350 + 1 day labour. Will this development be consider as exempt or complying development? or do I need to lodge a DA? If I do need a DA, what would be the procedures and costs involve? Thanks Ron Re: Do I need DA for replacing external door? 3Mar 31, 2012 8:30 pm Instead of just asking here I'd ring your council just to be sure. If it's your front entrance (feature) door then they could get all pedantic about it (wouldn't be the first time ever that that has happened with a local council) and a phone call just to be to be sure would probably be worth your 30c (or whatever a standard local phone call costs nowadays). I know we wouldn't get away with a sliding aluminium entrance door in the development we are building in as it would not fit in with the "character" of the estate (front entrance doors need to be "feature" doors for us). It is unlikely that the council would have anything to say if you're making a change to an existing dwelling, but you never know as they sometimes to have a tendency towards being a pita over trivial things...
