Hi,
I recently bought an apartment in Southbank. The windows are what I would have called double glazed - until I googled it, and now I'm not so sure. They are floor to ceiling windows, and the gap between the 2 panes of glass is around 10cm. Googling has lead me to believe that double glazed windows usually have a gap of around 4 - 16mm. So I'm not sure if there is another term for my windows.
Anyway, the inside of the outside pane of glass is quite dirty. Some sections are 'misted', but some just have dirt. One particular section has the residue from sort of sticky tape right across it, which has attracted dirt.
So, I 'm trying to determine if it's possible to clean the dirt off. Initially I thought I'd be able to pay someone to remove the internal pane, clean in the middle, then replace it. Then I found out that double glazed windows are sealed with a gas on the inside. But I'm still not sure if mine are double glazed. If so, then the seal is pretty stuffed. I've also heard of a process to remove condensation where a small hole is drilled into the gap, the moisture is heated, sucked or otherwise removed, and the hole is plugged. But that doesn't help me with my dirt problem.
Does anyone know if it's possible to get to the internal gap to clean these windows?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
