Well done...
If it was me, I would insist I fix it... becuase if I left you with a problem, you would never be happy and you would let everyone know that... so monetary compensation doesn't really work for me...

He said he'd speak to his manager about it so hopefully we'll get a positive response from that. I also don't want to take any more time off work to wait for tradies. Well done... I also don't have much confidence in the window repairers because last time they came out the guy wasn't very interested in fixing our problem. He was only there for about 5 minutes with the pull hammer on one window. I just don't want to potentially have to follow up if it isn't done properly again. Plus, we've already had to take days off work for this issue. Just doesn't feel worth it any more. Re: scratches on window frames..... 43May 14, 2012 4:20 pm This is interesting and a little scary, as we have a similar issue outstanding with PD. Ours is scratches on our sliding door tracks. Looking like it was caused by mortar left uncleaned when the brickies were in. The mortar is still there, we weren't going to clean it and risk being blamed for the scratches! SS has seen the scratches from day 1 so he knows it wasn't us. It has just taken a while to get A&L out to look at them (this Friday) I have my fingers crossed for you, as I'm sure our outcome with probably end up similar to what happens to you! We also have two windows leaking slightly from the top. SS couldn't work out where the leak was coming from, but I hope they all get fixed properly! In hindsight we shouldn't have taken handover when all the issues weren't rectified. It's been 8 weeks since handover (23 March) and we're still on the same issue of the windows. It certainly a lesson learnt that's for sure. We've also had little issues with grouting and other smaller paint issues which I've sorted out myself. Sometimes getting PD to get someone out is more hassle than it's worth. Re: scratches on window frames..... 45May 14, 2012 8:16 pm hey good luck, thats unbelievable if the fix looks sh*t it makes sense that they should replace it. All building company are the same. in my build they hit the fence they tried to fix it but i still wasnt happy so they replacing it. at the end of the day ur paying good money. let us know wat happens yeh Re: scratches on window frames..... 46May 14, 2012 10:03 pm d3vil_nik hey good luck, thats unbelievable if the fix looks sh*t it makes sense that they should replace it. It sucks about your fence but good thing they're replacing it. When we were getting our driveway done the bobcat driver backed into our garage and damaged a couple of panels. He initially wanted to repair but he eventually agreed to replace both. Lucky he was really nice and didn't give us any issues at all. Will let you know how I go. Our SS either doesn't listen or just completely ignores what I say. On Thursday I hadn't heard back from him so I emailed asking if he'd heard back from his manager regarding our compensation request. The response I got was, "Just a quick note to let you know that your windows are being repaired 18/5." Seriously, did he not read what I asked? Not even an explanation. I called him and told him that if they are unwilling to compensate we don't want the repair. Me taking a day off is worth more than the 2 pieces of metal they're going to bolt on. We've been mucked around enough so I've lost all faith in PD to deliver. Plus I don't want to risk things not being done properly and needing to follow things up again. He went on saying they just want to fix it so we're happy etc etc (amazing how things get moving once you get onto the forums). It's been 8 weeks since handover and I'm totally over it. We're very disappointed in PD but will accept their decision. I basically don't want to waste any more of my time on it. Re: scratches on window frames..... 53May 19, 2012 1:09 am This is terrible, is there no building standards regulator that protects people from this sort of behaviour. At the end of the day you purchased a new window not a repaired window. When you buy a demo model car you get all sorts of freebies because its essentially not new. Hope i works out for you., Ciao Mark Re: scratches on window frames..... 54May 19, 2012 10:22 pm i know what u mean, just call in sick lol khamtran The issues I have are that I would need to take a day off (costing me a day of work) and if the fix isn't satisfactory I'd need to follow it up. For your reference Performance Labels: Window assemblies in housing, except timber windows, must be labelled so the label can be seen when it is in situ. For timber… 6 7680 That sucks! Hope it all works out. Good to move away from steel anyway for all your reasons, but it's also thermally poor. 16 17775 |
