Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Sep 01, 2011 6:07 pm We have a house full of crappy windows and sliding doors that we need to dispose of. Does anyone have any ideas on what we can do with them? We are in Southern Sydney. Oh and when I say crappy I mean crappy. They are originally brown aluminum however some have been painted cream, some white, some only internally painted, some externally and internally and some only externally. We did consider smashing the glass out of them and scrapping the metal, however what do we do with the glass? Re: Cheap way to dispose of old windows and sliding doors 4Sep 02, 2011 9:35 am Yeah we thought of a skip, but some say no glass, so didn't know if it was all of them. Also locating a skip at our place is actually quite difficult. We were just wondering if there was any other way of getting rid of them that would allow us to take them somewhere rather than a skip that needs to be put on site somewhere, even for a little while is a little tricky. Re: Cheap way to dispose of old windows and sliding doors 5Sep 02, 2011 11:41 am Put them on gumtree.com.au, you'll be surprised at what people want, and it doesnt cost you a thing to put an ad in. Hope this helps. Site Start: 10th September, 2010 PCI : Friday 27th January, 2011. Someones trash is another persons treasure Good luck. Re: Cheap way to dispose of old windows and sliding doors 7Sep 02, 2011 2:32 pm most of the time of you specify building waste/rubble with bin hire they tell you yes or no straight away. Sometimes it costs a bit more. Gumtree or ebay are good if you don't mind waiting, but if you need it gone, then hire a bin. Also lets you get rid of other things at the same time Re: Cheap way to dispose of old windows and sliding doors 8Sep 04, 2011 4:10 pm Take the glass to visty recyclers, I'm sure you can dump glass and cardboard for free, there's one in taren point Re: Cheap way to dispose of old windows and sliding doors 9Sep 04, 2011 10:20 pm I removed an old aluminium sliding patio door and dumped the toughened glass at the tip and cashed in the aluminium for scrap metal Arfur Re: Cheap way to dispose of old windows and sliding doors 13Sep 26, 2011 1:05 pm I was going to say Gumtree, we got about six calls in the first 10 minutes after putting up our old timber sliding doors for free. For some of our other broken windows we called one of those rubbish removalists, check your local classifieds, and they took a truck load away for $200. One more option, you could ask your local council. Thanks Chippy,I do have one that I levered out. I'll try to find a brand name on the windows then do some searching. Here is a photo where you can see how worn they are. 2 7958 we have a standard size and often we have a lot of variety to choose 0 3575 We are looking for sliding doors which are 5 metres tall.
