Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Aug 01, 2011 7:12 pm Hi all, I am looking ideally to fit in our house a 2m wide by 2.1m high 3 panel sliding stacker (all sliding to one side) to fill an approx 6m gap. With screens as well! Is this possible? Does anybody make these and secondly is this a practical solution given how big and heavy these will possibly be. I am not too keen on bi-fold because I don't like the small panels and retractable flyscreens. Cost I guess is also a concern! I am in Sydney. Thanks in advance. NHP Re: Wide aluminium stackers - is it possible/practical?? 2Aug 15, 2011 4:40 pm Sure is, I'd say that opening is pretty small, not large. I helped install a stacker a few years back, it must have been easy 10 - 12 m wide by about 2.3m high. It is impotent to have very good fixing on the top as that's where there hung. The weight will be mainly determined by the glass used, but in your case pretty light think Re: Wide aluminium stackers - is it possible/practical?? 3Aug 15, 2011 5:21 pm Hi NHP, Your best bet is to Google a few door manufacturers websites & see what they have available. http://www.stegbar.com.au/products/windows_and_doors/aluminium/stacking_doors/size_and_range.php do a 6mtr but only looks like 3 panels to either side. Hope this helps. Got a life, just can't find it! Re: Wide aluminium stackers - is it possible/practical?? 4Aug 15, 2011 5:53 pm Sorry I read it wrong , 6m wide. Still no problem I recon Good luck Re: Wide aluminium stackers - is it possible/practical?? 5Aug 15, 2011 5:56 pm newhouseplease Hi all, I am looking ideally to fit in our house a 2m wide by 2.1m high 3 panel sliding stacker (all sliding to one side) to fill an approx 6m gap. NHP stackers are a great inexpensive idea instead of bi-folds and i've got them in my place and love'em! The weight will be mainly determined by the glass used, but in your case pretty light think I think you're describing a bifold door, stackers are supported by the wheels on the track on the sill, most bifolds hang from the head. Stackers usually have 2 moving panels and the panels are usually maximum 1200 wide. You can have 2 stackers meeting in the middle and then you have a very wide door. I have managed to locate someone to make my sliding stacker - it's going to be the AWS commercial slidemaster 704 which can go at maximum 3000m tall and 2000m panel width!! I am ending up having 3 panels of about 1.8m and 2.4m tall! should look great! 1 fixed and 2 sliding panels with 2 panels of screens. Steered clear of the bifold option as wasn't really keen on the screen issues and I hate flies! Plus this is a much cheaper way to go whilst still maintaining a modern look I think. Now I am being asked about glass options? Is the standard ok or shoulf I be upgrading. Already upgrading to special powdercoating due to being near the ocean.
