Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Jul 02, 2011 10:55 pm I am building my first house and am trying to budget for things I'll have to add once it's done. I can't seem to find any online prices for security screen doors - can anyone give me a ball park figure?? I have 2 hinged doors and 1 sliding door. Thanks Re: How much are security screen doors?? 2Jul 02, 2011 11:10 pm Hey redsparrow, we were quoted just over $700 for a single security door for the front door! Although I have seen them at bunnings for around the $250 mark, not sure about quality but if you have the resources maybe you could try DIY from Bunnings The road to success is always under construction House completed April 2011 - slowly making it a home... Re: How much are security screen doors?? 3Jul 13, 2011 2:42 pm Red Sparrow The Bunnings doors are steel, and heavy, but pretty strong. They are only as good as the hinges and the lock that you fit or get fitted though. You can get a triple lock one made, which are pretty good in any type of metal, but they are all really just a deterent so the the burgular will go next door... Re: How much are security screen doors?? 4Jul 13, 2011 2:59 pm I just got a bronze sliding security door fitted for $360. Re: How much are security screen doors?? 5Jul 16, 2011 7:06 pm Used to make and sell these doors, Crimsafe seems to be the safest and best price. I know that they are made to order and they measure up your door, etc. Perfect product to keep your family safe and definitely a keeper. Their price is around $750 - $850 a door but this is fitted. Re: How much are security screen doors?? 6Jul 19, 2011 10:00 am I think it depends on what you call security screen doors. Aluminum framed will be lighter and I think cheaper. A brand like Crimsafe would be one of the most expensive. Steel doors will be heavier but probably stronger, but remember that the door is not secure if the jamb can be broken easily. We have had extra thick studs around the external doors so that we can use big gauge extra long screws for the doors. That way they'll hold up to a big hit and won't warp as easily. I think all doors should be measure first to see if you can get away with an off the shelf job. Our last place the front door was out a lot and we needed custom made. I think our last place was around $1500-1700 with a full set of fly screens. We had 10 windows and 2 security doors in aluminium as well as a sliding fly screen door. It's a heritage style door with security mesh and that included powder coating in horizon blue. Great colour...
