Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Jun 20, 2011 9:17 pm Have glass bricks usually got the plastic drainage strip at the bottom like opening windows do? We've gotten a window replaced with glass bricks and it's got a black plastic strip at the bottom. It's really obvious looking with our light coloured house and window frames. I didn't expect it to be there. Is it the usually done thing please? Re: Glass bricks 3Aug 12, 2011 10:44 pm Nobody has glass bricks anymore? So I got thinking, I've seen glass brick walls in showers and they're sealed right? If glass bricks in a shower don't need a drainage strip at the bottom then why should glass bricks on an exterior wall need it? Re: Glass bricks 4Aug 12, 2011 11:39 pm Can't see why you'd need the plastic sill rubber. They would only need caulking. There is no sign of a rubber strip in the frame itself but looks like there is something between the timber of the house frame and the metal of the glass brick frame on ours. If you can post a pic it would help out as well. I'll try to get one of ours Re: Glass bricks 7Sep 03, 2011 4:29 pm So I took a pic and I can't figure out how to share it cos the photo hosting site is telling me I need to update my browser. Buuuuut if it helps I can tell you that the glass bricks are inside a metal frame which sits on the black strip which is on top of the timber frame of the original window. So going down it goes glass brick metal frame black sill rubber timber frame Re: Glass bricks 8Sep 05, 2011 9:58 am That sound like the way mine is done. If you email me the photo I can host it for you. I'll PM the email address. Need to remove glass panel out of concrete without wrecking the glass to get the spa room in, any recommendations on how to do that. Thank you 0 39034 What do you need them to withstand? If it's normal wear and tear, then either will do, if you want resistance to ingress then laminated would be the favourite, but only… 1 12380 |
