Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Jun 05, 2011 3:29 pm We are considering getting some new windows installed (probably either double-hung, or horizontal sliding windows), and were very interested to see some windows which can be cleaned entirely from indoors, and without needing to remove the flyscreen - very useful in high-rise apartments. They seem to be generally referred to as 'tilt' windows? We found some examples of double-hung 'tilt' windows: http://www.sovereignwindows.com.au/w...ouble_hung.php http://www.gjames.com.au/product/wn/doublehung.html (the 138 series) What about horizontal sliding windows - are there any in Australia which can be 'tilted' inward like that? Here is one example in USA which have this feature: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pyx06oEivLQ http://www.gorell.com/pages/5300_tilt_sliding.htm We have also found some examples of casement 'tilt' windows: http://cozyhome.com.au/windows/single_t ... ation.html http://www.paarhammer.com.au/tilt%20and%20turn.html However, we can't use these - for normal everyday use we need something that doesn't swing inwards or outwards (due to lack of room and existing window blinds), which is why we're considering horizontal sliding or double-hung windows. We would only use the 'tilt' inward feature when cleaning the windows. Looking at a lot of the previous posts in this forum, we can't seem to find an example of a horizontal sliding window which can tilt inwards for cleaning? Does anyone know of a horizontal sliding window which has a similar feature? Or a horizontal sliding window for which _both_ panes can be lifted out? I think (I hope I'm proven wrong) most sliding windows have one fixed pane and one sliding pane, and only the latter can be lifted out. To clean the outside of the fixed window pane, you still have to remove the flyscreen and reach out, which can be dangerous in a high-rise. Black on light wood does look good. Not sure if it will be as long lasting as a steel finish? 6 6349 brokers will also be in a position to get you a better rate than the advertised rate most times. 6 7566 Thank you. Do I use timber floorboards for stairs or do people use timber treads? Or is both the same? 6 7271 |
