Browse Forums Windows & Doors Re: Can corner bi folds be installed later? 6May 09, 2011 2:35 pm Plonk ed @ ecoclassic Not without support at the corner installed now... e.g. if it's a corner stacker you have then yes, if not, then no. Ed Thanks for taking the time to respond everyone. Ed, what sort of supports would need to be installed. Can we install the necessary supports now, put in two sliding doors, and then install bi-folds down the track? I know $16K is probably a good price to have corner bifolds supplied and installed, but we've gone $120K over budget with extras added to our home, so it looks like they can't happen now, but would love the option in the future. The house frame or roof trass will need a major upgrade to be self supporting at the opening corner. The bifold door will likely be top hung, with all the weight hanging from the beam. The bifold door, say 3m x 3m would add about $4k - $6k alone (replacement over 2 doors). Yes, doing it now will allow bifold to slip into place later. Get a price for the upgrade without the door, guessing <$10k. Ed "ECOECO" At 'EcoEco', we design windows, we design the best windows, we do it for you, so that when you’re happy we are happy. You can definitely set up corner cabinets to have the same gap as standard doors. 2 8593 4 9406 |
