but I am really confused what window treatments that would best suit large openings/sliding or stacker doors if you want to keep as much of the view as possible but still have ability to partially or fully close off for privacy/reduce sun used to be verticals but is there something more modern? panels glides seem nice but are very wide and do they move around? curtains? any more ideas? what are you using for sliding/stacker doors? Re: window coverings for sliding/stacking or huge windows 2Jan 06, 2008 10:16 pm Good luck with the stack doors bec!!!!!!
To put window dressing on a stack door the dressing needs to be put onto the most amount of wall space either side of the stack. While these doors are open you can’t have anything on them……meaning all the dressing needs to sit on the walls either side of the doors, so you need the space on those walls. UNDRESTAND ME? Sliding doors should follow the same principle; I have found doors to be the hardest thing to dress. One thing I know…DON’T use a roller blind or any blind of any sort……too much work getting them up and down to go in and out of the doors! This is a tough one! To me the most suitable dressing for a sliding door is the verticals!!! You can now get then in fabulous designs…..their not like the old ones that used to be around….their much more classier now. I personally like the glides…..the only thing wrong with a glide is they are either open…..or closed, there is no half way like a vertical. havent actually had stackers before, do they open back onto themselves on the inside then? or outside? .....another thing to worry about lol....... I came across automated panelglides that can fold themselves into two to become completely thin, then can also take themselves fully back they looked too expensive so I didnt save the site, looked cool though! Oops We're going to use roller blinds for ours. For us, I don't think it'll be that big of an issue as the door is south facing so we'll most likely be keeping the blinds open during the daytime when the doors would be in use. Here's a picture of what we're hoping to do (it's from another house our builder has completed). So yes….you have no problem. Ive never had stacker doors before and waiting for their installation to see what they really are!! we had a bifold last house, it didnt need coverings *luckily* I found the folding panel glides they are pretty cool (little video here if anyones interested...under folding panels http://www.nichedesign.com.au/page/what ... to_me.html) Re: window coverings for sliding/stacking or huge windows 8Jan 06, 2008 11:14 pm We are actually going to have the same issues.
The alfresco on our place will be similar to this one, but ours is bigger by about a metre. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our back fence will be about 2m from the back of the alfresco so we have decided not to put ANY window coverings onto the triple slider....Also because any window coverings will decrease the amount of light entering our family area even more.... Re: window coverings for sliding/stacking or huge windows 10Jan 06, 2008 11:31 pm Bec, the first pic is a similar house to ours which is currently under construction and the second is the display.....
We're still months away from making the final decision.... But nothing like pre-planning hey???? Re: window coverings for sliding/stacking or huge windows 13Jan 07, 2008 12:38 am bec I imagine so I bet they are very expensive! LOL Ummmm i think so too Re: window coverings for sliding/stacking or huge windows 14Jan 07, 2008 10:24 am we're thinking about using these on our stacker doors (panel glide blinds), made from similar material to roller blinds

They look really nice and the fact that you can change the panels to change your look but keep the track system is great.
Ikea have a nice similar looking system, and some nice panels too... I think i've also seen it in places like Lincraft.... Re: window coverings for sliding/stacking or huge windows 17Jan 09, 2011 7:51 pm We're using roller blinds. We have a 6 stacker sliding door (4 blinds in total, but only 2 chains to operate as 2 will be linked together), a 3 stacker sliding door and 2 other standard sliding doors. We had roller blinds over sliding doors in our previous house and had no problems with them. We considered the panelglides but didn't want to cover some of our glass at all times by having panels over the glass even when the blinds are open (we don't have space at the sides as we made the doors as large as they can be). The other reason we decided against them is because we have young children and they just love playing with the verticals we have in the place we are renting. Go to a heap of blind/curtain shops (including spotlight) and visit as many display homes as you can stand.... Re: window coverings for sliding/stacking or huge windows 18Jan 14, 2011 9:42 am We are getting duo roller blinds... Re: window coverings for sliding/stacking or huge windows 19Jan 14, 2011 3:20 pm I am thinking of getting dual roller blinds too and have Spotlight coming out to quote on them next week. Does anyone have pics of them over their sliding doors? We have 4 panels with the doors opening in the middle. I am thinking I might just have two blinds so I can leave one half down if I need to and the other half (where door will open) up if I need to?... Re: window coverings for sliding/stacking or huge windows 20Jan 15, 2011 9:55 pm We have cornerless stacker doors, we looked at panel glides but as they are either open or closed, we decided against them. We've fitted Verticals and really happy with them, they open to the sides and allow full access to the opening Neil and Rachel Finally completed the Hartley 361 with Dennis Family Homes in Mernda Villages.....
