Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Mar 21, 2011 1:58 pm Hi all, what is the best way to do the cutout for the window winder on the flyscreens ? Have heard using tin snips, but guessing it doesn't look as good. Have access to a router if that helps. How do the professionals cut them out? Matt. Re: Fly Screen cutout for window winder. 2Mar 21, 2011 4:39 pm Hi Not sure what you are doing, a flyscreen on an awning window uses a skirt. This consists of a flat metal strip going between the sash and the winder for the width of the sash. On top of that is a channel into which the flyscreen is fitted, so that it sits on top of the winder. The cutout in the skirt, can either be around the winder, or if space permits just around the chain. The professionals use tin snips. If you order flyscreens from a manufacturer the skirt is included. Ed "ECOECO" At 'EcoEco', we design windows, we design the best windows, we do it for you, so that when you’re happy we are happy.
