Most are double hung sash windows so the fly screen would go on the outside, but there are two casement windows and an awning window which would need the fly screen on the inside. Would these windows still be able to have plantation shutters? Some of the double hung windows have existing timber framed flyscreens with peeling paint and torn mesh. Is it worth getting these repaired and painted to stay in keeping with the age of the property or should I just replace with aluminum ones? Finally, I have had a quote for Fusion 20 shutters. Has anyone had these installed and if so what do you think of them? Thanks for any help you can provide Re: Plantation Shutters & Flyscreens - Advice needed 2Mar 07, 2011 1:00 pm What state are you in? it might be worth ringing a couple of companies and asking the question, I know my nephew had the same problem with flyscreens on the inside, he had the shutter installed and now cant get his flyscreens out. Just waiting on them to be installed as they have arrived in They dont sit flush with the architrave, due to the winder, so the frame they make for the them sits out a little into the room. Will remember to take pics once they're installed... which is still a few weeks away Re: Plantation Shutters & Flyscreens - Advice needed 4Dec 02, 2013 10:57 am ring09 What state are you in? it might be worth ringing a couple of companies and asking the question, I know my nephew had the same problem with flyscreens on the inside, he had the shutter installed and now cant get his flyscreens out. Hi there, one of the best types of screens for awning windows are retractable screens. The work like a roller blind with side channels on either side. You simply roll them down when you need them (while your window is open) and roll the up when you don't need them.
