Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Feb 16, 2011 4:35 pm Hi, we are looking at Woodworkers fusion timber/steel feature doors (probably the Toku) for our media room, it would be 2 sliders coming together. Each door is 820mm, and we were planning on having cavity sliders, but it seems such a shame to hide such an attractive door when they are open. Is it possible to have an external track/rail so that the doors would be visible from the hallway at all times, whether open or closed? I wanted to check here before speaking to Woodworkers, in case they think I'm a little weird. Re: Sliding timber doors, not cavity sliders- Can it be don 2Feb 19, 2011 8:09 am I saw this recently at a local display home, they had a stainless steel track fixed to the wall and both doors were visible at all times. It looked a bit too industrial for my tastes but depending on your tastes/home it might suit perfectly. Searching on Google returns quite a few options, you might be able to use something like www.brio.com.au/content/brochures/BRIO0 ... un_WEB.pdf Re: Sliding timber doors, not cavity sliders- Can it be don 3Feb 20, 2011 10:25 am yes you can,you just get a sliding door track and fit a pelmet over the sliding track, http://www.cowdroy.com.au/centurion.html Re: Sliding timber doors, not cavity sliders- Can it be don 4Feb 20, 2011 1:50 pm Just as Darrel says. My parents have them. There is a sliding door track on top with a stained wooden pelmet. The sliding track is heavy duty as the weight of the door hangs from it so there are no bottom tracks to look ugly. Building tip No. 3: A raft slab will not get you down a river. A waffle pod slab does not go with maple syrup. Re: Sliding timber doors, not cavity sliders- Can it be don 6May 01, 2011 10:16 pm We were thinking along the same lines, but we chose to have them mounted as cavity sliders. Our opening is 2.8m wide x 2.4m high. Ours have stoppers so the doors dont completely retract into the wall - they stop so only the vertical part of timber door itself is visible (no glass) (The cylindrical handle is yet to be mounted on each door). That way the door is visible, so the effect of a nice door is not lost. The door is being painted in a clear stain so hopefully should look a nice colour once finished. http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i80/danielt25/New%20House/IMG_0027.jpg http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i80/danielt25/New%20House/IMG_0025.jpg Our "Better Homes Queensland" Cairns Build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=40451 Current stage - 1st builder's clean done.
