Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Feb 09, 2011 10:00 pm Looking at having bifold doors leading out to a concrete patio. Looking out of the doors it faces north. We were thinking of having the lounge room floor as being almost seamless out to the patio via the bifold doors. The builder says there is normally a step to an outside area and that it's better to have a big step instead of a small one. He tells me when it storms that water might run back inside the house. So he thinks 100mm is ok. I know there will be a fall on the patio to the garden so the water should drain away from the bifolds but how big a fall is required over a 3800 mm wide patio? We are also going to have a small, about 800mm wide, plastic roof off a pergola over the doors. Would this be enough to keep the rain off the bottom of the door? Storms in sydney usually come from the South. I've seen many patios and bifold doors on the same level as the internal areas. How do people weather proof the internals when there doesn't appear to be a drain along the outside of the door? To be level there would have to be a drain set into the ground at the door - Stormtech do one... The widow people tell me I can have it recessed 38mm so the door is flush with the floor and then to leave a 10-11mm gap between the outside patio tiles and the door for water drainage. They also say to have a 1in 8 or 1 in 9 fall in the outdoor patio tiles. Still worried about weather proofing even if it's on the north side of the house. Now I'm thinking of having a 50mm step down to the outside patio. Is that going to be too much of a trip hazard or should I make it 100mm? Hi, have purchased a house with 2 single garage doors. The Centre pillar one side sits proud to the other. Can I change 2 doors into one.
