Thats why I'm going with a sort of window on either side instead. Any ideas on windows with entry doors? 5Feb 04, 2011 3:00 pm You can get the security mesh for window flyscreens. Not the yukky grills but that mesh that can't be cut or kicked in. **** Johnson advertises it. It is still fairly see through so would let in light and breeze just not the naughty robbers LOL. Will have to google what it is called. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Any ideas on windows with entry doors? 6Feb 04, 2011 3:05 pm garden lover, I thought you said in the first post that you want both - security and breeze. Without some "security treatment" applied to your side windows, I cannot see how you can have both (unless you dropped one of the requirements - then it gets quite easy). If you prefer breeze, you can have louvres. If you prefer security, there are a few options, not just to mesh up the window. If you "must" have both, you can have the SS mesh like the one I posted (on the windows, obviously) plus the louvres (BTW, this SS mesh is made/or sold/or used by many different names, Invisi-Gard is just one of them ) My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Re: Any ideas on windows with entry doors? 7Feb 04, 2011 3:46 pm The Doorkeeper sell louvred sidelights. We bought our front door and bifolds through them and they make beautiful doors. Re: Any ideas on windows with entry doors? 8Feb 06, 2011 1:35 pm Thanks kb46. Have had a look. I've seen some I like and its given me some food for thought. Will definately look into the security mesh for the side windows also, whether I go louvres or something else. Just thought someone might have some other ideas that havent yet come to mind. Re: Any ideas on windows with entry doors? 9Feb 06, 2011 2:13 pm I had the same issue, I wanted the breezes to come through the front entrance but did not want screens over the front door, as you spend extra for a great front door you don't want to cover it up. We put in a bank of louvers on each side of the front door, which we screened with invisi-guard, they stay open 24/7. This allows us great air flow from front to back, having both double hung and louvers we prefer the louvers. Re: Any ideas on windows with entry doors? 12Feb 06, 2011 3:34 pm I would agree with Erin,a bit more classy.Take 2 the louvers look good with your style windows,it depends what look you want. Re: Any ideas on windows with entry doors? 13Feb 09, 2011 11:17 am I love the look of your doors with the louvres take2. I have to say I'm impressed. I think thats going to be my decision maker. Thanks for that. Plus the style of my house is a combination of low key french country & beach style. Laid back with elegance. Think the louvres will work great. Re: Any ideas on windows with entry doors? 15Feb 11, 2011 8:50 am just Erin How about full length awning windows that wind out, but can be wound in secure when you need them to be? Speaking to my nieghbours last night they put in this style of window and wish now the used louvers for better airflow. Re: Any ideas on windows with entry doors? 18Jun 12, 2011 10:43 pm I've got windows in my double entry doors. The wrought iron design protects them and when we need to talk to somebody we just open the sash without opening the whole door. They are not modern but custom made traditional french prov. style. I luv 'em. Black on light wood does look good.
