Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Jan 31, 2011 9:16 am We are about to start building a second level extension and still trying to decide on windows. The existing windows are painted timber awning. We would like double glazed Upvc or aluminium to avoid painting on a second level. Good ventilation abilities and Insect screens. The four front north facing windows are 2057x 850 and these need to be a single glass pane but still be able to be opened. We were quoted on Upvc tilt and turn but were told they were not available in the size for the front windows. Any ideas? Sorry can't do that size in PVC Tilt & Turn, but we can in awning and casement... PVC or aluminium or thermally broken aluminium. I presume Upvc cost less than than thermally broken Aluminium? Are there any advantages/disadvantages of casement over awning? -Graham Re: Window Options for second story extension 4Jan 31, 2011 12:52 pm graybags Thanks for the reply, do you have Upvc casement or awning in panoramic? Is that our size chart description? Costs are roughly aluminium 100%, uPVC 140%, commercial aluminium 150% (Takes plaster reveal), thermally broken 170%. But all miles cheaper than the competition. And our aluminium is the most energy efficient in Australia. Thanks Ed "ECOECO" At 'EcoEco', we design windows, we design the best windows, we do it for you, so that when you’re happy we are happy. I am confused because we had a quotes from Ecoclasic one of them was for tilt and turn Upvc in 2057x850. Was then told was 2057x850 not available in tilt and turn so decided on awning Upvc only to be told cant do Upvc awning in the panoramic even though we had the drawings done with sizes from your website. You might want to look into it. Re: Window Options for second story extension 6Feb 01, 2011 8:47 am graybags Yes from your website, awning window panoramic Ecoplus range. They only secure way to fit the screens is to face fit onto the front of the window (ugly IMO). Others say to use the pins inside the opening, but they will fail.
