Hi all I wonder if anyone has one or both types of magnetic or velcro flyscreens especially suitable for casement windows? Prices vary widely from $160 to $60 per window Mind you prices vary as size differ.
Please, please, please don't get velcro flyscreens. The previous owner of our house used velcro flyscreens on all the bedroom windows. We have since installed sliding screens, and wanted to paint the window frames. The velco just doesn't come off, the sticky back of ours was almost impossible to get off the window frames. We used sandpaper, paint thinner, turps, scrapers, and there is still residue there.
We had velcro on the villa windows of our hotel in bali recently...to me it almost looks like a temp solution and a cheap alternative (and it is...) But long term...I probably wouldn't go for them... Personal choice I guess. I also find them more difficult because you have to undo them to open the window, then line up all the velcro to shut them again and do it all over again when you want to shut the window...
The road to success is always under construction

There's a product called Un-Du, I think it's made by same people who make Timbermate. You can buy it at Bunnings where all other adhesive "undoers" are (like orange oil and the like). They claim it's great, I bought some, but still haven't tried it ( ) so can't comment on its efficiency.
