Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Jan 01, 2011 7:55 pm We are currently building and our windows have been installed. Accross the front of our home we have nine windows which go to the floor. Currently these windows are sitting at what appears to be the same level as the concrete floor, with no frame on the bottom of the window. How are wooden floors fitted where this is the case? I am guessing a wooden frame will be fitted around the whole of the window (currently these are only on 3 sides of the windows but as there are nails partially sticking out I am assuming more work needs to be done here!). And we can then have the wooden floor go up to the edge of the frame and our floor will be at a similar height to the window frame. Thanks Re: Windows to the floor and wooden floors. As this is a floating floor it will need trims if there is no skirting board and I'm struggling to picture how this will work. Thanks Re: Windows to the floor and wooden floors. Thanks The reveals are 19mm and the flooring will fit into the same location, should be fine. How does it wor 5Jan 02, 2011 2:45 pm I just moved into my new home and have windows that go to the floor. We had floating bamboo flooring installed (15mm thick +underlay). There is absolutely no problem with the fit. I will try and find what box my camera is in and try and grab you a picture. My installer used a metal trim that runs along the length of the window - this allows for the expansion gap and finished it off quite nicely. One thing I didnt think of with the to-the-floor-windows was the added expense of blinds/shades and screens. Next time I will know better.
