Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Dec 12, 2010 12:51 pm Hi, We have A&L windows throughout the house - very happy with them. However, all my downstairs windows only wind out a small amount (I'd guess less than 10 cm), whereas the upstairs ones wind out at least 3 times that. Is there any way to get them to wind out further as I don't get much breeze coming through them as they are? Can a longer chain be added? Thanks for your help! Re: My A&L Windows - can I get them to wind out further? 2Dec 12, 2010 2:45 pm Sounds like they did them the wrong way round. Your upstairs window winders have to be restricted by law. The downstairs can be opened any distance. Talk to the builder or A&L. Either way, it's new chainwinders. Thought perhaps it was because the downstairs ones are really tall and upstairs are shorter so that had something to do with it. Can chainwinders be replaced easily? Re: My A&L Windows - can I get them to wind out further? 4Dec 12, 2010 3:25 pm Yes, easily replaced... maybe the sashes on your downstairs windows are too heavy for the longer chain, but I doubt that.
