Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Dec 05, 2010 7:39 pm After some misuse from our little girl, our cavity sliding door to our toilet seems to have come undone on the rear slider making it very hard to close and open. How can i repair this without pulling my house apart needlessly? I think all i have to do is get into the runner and screw the running gear back onto the top of the door, but am stumped as how to access this. Re: Fix a cavity sliding door 2Dec 05, 2010 8:14 pm At the top of the door opening you will see two pieces of timber that cover the top of the door - one on each side. Either one of these or both of them can be unscrewed and removed. When this is done and the door slid shut the rollers and rail is exposed to allow any adjustments or maintenance. Usually requires a spanner to undo the bolts/nuts that attach the door to the rollers. cheers Re: Fix a cavity sliding door 4Dec 06, 2010 8:03 pm mickando Thanks for that. i had a quick look at that option, but thought that the running track was too high up to get this way. I'll have another look and see if i can somehow get to it. Definitely the way to do it- remove the piece of timber that is easiest to access the screws. Most sliding doors come with an offset spanner to adjust the nuts that mount the back and front of the door to the rail. My builder left three of these spanners in my cutlery draw at handover. I have had to adjust my doors twice in the past year and a half thanks to my three kids.... Hey guys, what’s everyone opinion on James Hardie linea direct fix to frame? Would this be the most common method and anybody ever had any problems down the track? 0 5132 I’m in a similar position except I’m after sliding 3 stacking doors.
